The Grey House Szara Kamienica Foundation was set up in 1993 as a private initiative. Its main work is in monument preservation, revalorisation of historical and cultural tissue, and support for cultural activities on a range of levels. In the 1990s the Foundation undertook full renovation of the Grey House, restoring it to its former glory.
At present the Foundation is moving increasingly towards promoting culture and the arts, with a twofold mode of operation:
1. Developing and operating its own programmes, for which it seeks partners and financing across the public, private, and non-profit sectors,
2. Supporting other cultural institutions with a similar profile (through grant programmes).
The general direction of this change is illustrated by the Foundation’s current and planned projects (see News).
